georgesvalera
hey guys, i dunno if anyone has bumped into the same problem. simply i create a box, put a Hair and Fur WSM modifier, adjust number of hairs to 150.000 which is not so much considering the max reference saying hair total numbers can be up to millions, segments of hair is 8, render settings for H&F is MRprim, and then i just wanna render it with no special settings like FG, and max ends up in an error message and quits.. actually, i tried to disable mr raytracing, increasing mr memory usage limit, etc., all the same result. It renders 120.000 grass, but not 150.000. (my iron is: 2.8 Dual core w 4Gb RAM(!), 32bit Windows, 3Gb switch enabled) Is this pc configuration really not enough for using millions of hairs on a simple box? or is there a secret checkbox i forgot to enable... is there anyone who has any idea what this phenomena could be? thx in advance. gv
Tommy L
adjust number of hairs to 150.000 which is not so much considering the max reference saying hair total numbers can be up to millions, gv I dont use MR any more, but what spec is your machine? Im sure the Max testers have super-NASA spec machines that can handle millions of hairs, it sounds like a ram issue.
georgesvalera
well, its definitely not a super-Nasa spec machine: 2.8 Dual core P4, 4Gb RAM, 32bit Windows, 3Gb switch enabled. but still....
