laumikey
Hi all, not sure is this is the right section to post this. I've updated an old 3ds max work to vray with new vray maps to test. Now when I have smooth and highlights on in the viewport 3d max crashes. But when switched to open gl mode the viewport is dark... any suggestions of the cause of this? thanks

tayrona
In the viewport configuration panel, activate: Z-buffer wireframe objects, force 2-sided, Default lighting, 2 lights
Ricardo Eloy
I was having the same problem with 3ds max 9 SP2/VRay 1.5rc3. Turned out to be a problem with the Direct3D display, and once I changed to OpenGL it worked fine. The Material Editor thing is, I guess, a bug. VRay didn't have the Display Map in Viewport option available for the entire material, only for map levels until rc3. Guess it's not working properly, yet.
