Sketchrender
I am trying to render a scene were light comes in to an atrium, and bounces off a window in the atrium, and refects off a wall. I need to show the reflection moving along the wall during the day. Can somebody help me with this. I have tried a few setting in vray using vray sun for accuracy, and the default caustic settings. Any help would be great. phil
chiquito
If I understood correctlly, you want to animate the light source and have that projected onto the wall and you want this reflection to move? Any chance to have a screen grab of the scene?
Sketchrender
Attached a screen grab of the render on the top right. A photo taken on site with the reflection of the window which is high above and behind the viewer. I hope this shows my problem a little better. thanks phil
tayrona
if you want quick results, try an IESun with vray shadow and animate it using keyframes.

FlytE
Just to understand, are you just having problems getting the reflection to be strong enough, or are you having problems getting this to work at all?
Sketchrender
I can't get any reflections to bounce back on to the wall. I can get a blurred one but i want the same as the photo if that is possible.
Tommy L
I would fake it with a target light and a map on the light.
chiquito
I guess its me being slow here, so forgive me if im being reiterative. You have that window in an atrium. The light comes from another opening above. The vertical window reflects this light onto the sourroundings. As the time of the day goes by you need to show this light moving. 1) For the light (direct light or primary bounce) try excluding the roof glass. 2)Pitch up the intensity of that light, try with an ambient light (vray dome) a direct light with shadows on. 3)if needed add a white reflecting plane (not renderable) so you could guide light. eventualy link this plane to the direct light, so when you move the direct light the reflecto would move also. If you need the sun reflected and sharp reflections also, yo may need to do some trick, like having one glass the reflects the inage and another non renderable glass thet reflects or bounces the light. Asuming that the only movement in you scene is the sun: a quick thought, have you tried using a projected reflected map from the light? What settings are you using for the reflecting glass? If you came to any solution share, good luck Martin

FlytE
I was going to suggest what tommyL suggested! to make it more realistic though, you could probably use your photograph as a reference and just cut the shape out if it. After a bit of corrective stretching, you could use that as a map for the light.
