Trevor Tizard
Hi all, I've received an email from my Autodesk dealer telling me that I can crossgrade from Viz to Max at a 30% discount until the end of July. I currently run Viz 2007, own 2008, but have not upgraded because there was so little difference (except mental ray - I use Vray), and many issues reported. Our business is about to embark on animation, and although Viz can do that Max appears to offer more. That along with issues relating to plug-ins, 64bit etc, makes me think that now is the time to make a move I've been considering for some time. I would be grateful if any of you that have already made this move could let me have you opinions. Also the thoughts of Max or Viz users would be most welcome. Thanks, Trev
JamesTaylor
Max and Viz are the same program... Viz is just a striped down version of max. The major additional pieces max includes will be reactor, particles and sub object animation. If you are beginning to embark on animation i'd say that its going to depend on what you see yourself doing animation wise... are you simply planning on put a camera in a scene and moving round the static building as in the traditional flythro?? Or do you see yourself working on cinematic type animations along the lines of those produced by Uniform, Smoothe and others?? If its the later you'll max, if its the former you get by with Viz 90% of the time, only occasionally you might find yourself lacking the capability to do something... but i won't be the end of the world!!
