kalmarjan
Hello all, I am currently stuck on this little problem here. I am just getting started with architectural visualization, and I am trying to model a simple house for a starting project. I have downloaded Ted Boardman's excellent tutorials on modeling with splines, but maybe I missed something. When you model a house's walls with complex shapes, you get the basic outlines. I understand why that is better than modeling with booleans, but what happens when you get the shell of the house? If you need to put windows/doors into the walls, how do you go about doing that after you have put the extrude modifier on the shape? Sorry if the question has been asked before, I have searched the help files with little success. Sandeman

When you model a house's walls with complex shapes, you get the basic outlines. I understand why that is better than modeling with booleans, but what happens when you get the shell of the house? Tutorial written by Ted Boardman was very excellent and I was use it until I heard Autodesk buy proboolean and put it in 3ds Max 9. That make me change my work flow. I don't like boolean but proboolean was very good. Until now i'm not facing any problem using proboolean. I don't like boolean because to many strange line everywhere in wall.... Why not try it? If you need to put windows/doors into the walls, how do you go about doing that after you have put the extrude modifier on the shape? This is the answer.... make rectangle as window opening then attach it. go to modify>editable spline search attach then attach rectangle hope it help

Sandeman try to work with spline modeling on elevations. it will help u in starting stage to make building models easily. in case of complex curves use compoud objects. like redzuan3828 said proboolean gives good result for subtracting and adding spaces.
