Aaron2004
Hello, I have attached an image of a subdivision that I am practicing materials on. My main concern is the blacktop, curb and sidewalk. I can not get it to interact with the VRAY sun properly. The image is too matte right now. On the chamfered edges of the curb, the sun should be glaring off of it stronger. I have expirmented with changing my highlight glossiness to .38 and my reflectivity to a dark gray. I also am using fresnel reflections. I am trying to use the aversis tutorial for this, but am not quite getting it. Any help? This would certainly help out in other instances...as I feel that a flat, matte quality is my biggest problem on all my renderings. Thanks! Scott Schroeder
.38 is going to give you a really spread out highlight. Can you get a highlight, with a higher glossy setting, such as .7 .8 and with a white reflectivity? You may not want the curb to look wet, but once you at least get a highlight then you can work backwards to the desired look. Try bumping up the Fresnel IOR to around 2-3 as well, then again work backwards to how you want it to look.
