jonnypoland
i am new to max but am trying to use the program to create photorealistic images of archicad models. I have a plugin to import archicad 3DS files which allows me to change the archicad materials for Vray ones. After i do this when i open the material editer none of the attached materials are their to edit? How can i find these and why are they not there? Also is there a way of selecting objects by material? this is because when the archicad model is imported all the objects names become numbers and letters? Any help would be most appreciated! jonny
JamesTaylor
Have you set VRay to be the default renderer for production and Material editor??? you'll the option in your Render Scene Dialog Box (f10) > Common Tab > Assign Renderer section (bottom of panel)
jonnypoland
yeah i have just checked and they vray is assigned to both. The materials appear on the model in the viewport but the material editer does not have any of them in its browser.
sterealkey
Use the eyedropper tool in the material editor and then in the viewport click on an object that has the material that you want to edit. On the right hand side in the material editor theres a button that you can click to select all objects of the same material. Just hover over them it will tell you the function of the button.
