Program crash!

Iv done many renders using vray and i have just encountered my first crash!

The settings i have activated that are different to usual setup include Caustics.

The scene contains only vary lights and had HDRI light map lighting.

The program crashes during renders on the caustics calculation phase!

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Does anyone know how i can fix it? Is it something simple i am doing wrong?

Thanks for your time!

Yeah its fine without it turned on, i also get it to work without all of the vray lights turned on!

I think that there was too much for it to handle? does that make sense? If thats possable?

just to confirm... your saying it works with caustics turned off, your also saying it works with all vray lights turned off - is that with caustics enabled or not???

You may simply be running out of memory, if that is the case using VRay proxies will help. Check out the Visualisation Insider articles for a pdf about memory management and http://www.evermotion.org has a tutorial for Vray Proxies

yes its running out of memory. Vray doesnt tend to handle running out of memory, so it just crashes. You can either look at your settings again to see if they can be optimized or you can maybe try using the 3GB switch? Ive also found that rendering to a vray raw image, in combination with the 3GB switch works wonders when your getting crashing problems.
