Tommy L
read the help files that come with max first, then try and do it, then scratch your head, then ask search specific threads about what is making you scratch your head, then scratch your chin, then post some questions. tayrona
I agree with Tommy... researching will help you more, than just asking, however... look for something called BACKBURNER in max help, it has a clear and complete guide of this! good look

ITryMyBest
if you are trying to render only a single image via backcurner, you will have to split scanline. the split scanline option is available in the backburner dialog box that comes up. if you are only rendering a single image, this may be the reason multi-computer rendering doesn't seam to work for you. what happens when you try to submit an animation of say three frames? do both machines render then. also make sure the machines have a shared folder they can save the files to. never used vray, but if you choose to do the split scanline option, if you don't have a GI solution already saved or locked for each computer to access and load, the split scanline option will probably not work for you as each machine will come up with a slightly different solution and the strips will not match perfectly.
