Dean,

the image is improving nicely!

what render settings are you using for these sample shots? As you'll have seen from my earlier post i've also been playing with the Vray Sun, Sky & Camera for an interior and as Brain stated i'm finding i'm having to use very high settings... I've actually reduced the adaptive amount of rQMC sampler which has helped alot, although at the expense of render times. However, i still don't think my areas of flat colour mainly the ceiling are coming out as smooth as you have achieved???

I'll post my settings and image samples when i'm back in the office tomorrow, it'd be good to compare.

cheers

Thanks

ok right...

start with gi

bounce 1: irradience 3

bounce 2: light cache 0.5... but i have been playing artound and getting good results last few time with a higher secound bounce..

Image sanmplig:

adaptive qmc

min: 2

max:5

no anti alias.. dont really know why as i was advised on that one....????

color mapping:

exponential

bright 1

dark 1

gamma 2 ... this really made the difference with my render

affect background - checked

rqmc sampler:

adaptive amount 0.85

noise threshold 0.01

min samples 8

not really sure what this bit does you know i think thee are the default values?????

see what you think...

Dean,

the images attached are the lastest renders of the scene i post earlier. These images used the following settings

Primary Bounce:

Irradience Map - multiplier 1

HSph SubDivs - 60

Interp Samp - 50

Secondary Bounce:

QMC - multiplier 1

SubDivs - 16

Secondary Bounces - 12

(as i understand it, vlado indicates that keeping primary and secondary bounce to multiplier of 1 produces a physically correct sun and sky)

Image sanmplig:

adaptive subdivision - as default

color mapping:

exponential

bright 1

dark 1

gamma 2.2

affect background - checked

rqmc sampler:

adaptive amount 0.3 - this has made the biggest different to my final image quality but has also made a massive difference to my render times

noise threshold 0.01

min samples 8

As i added to my earlier post, i'm also using lele's 0.255 material method for physically correct materials too.... if you aren't this method also we are comparing unrelated systems!

Overall your settings seem pretty much default, with the exception of your bounce multipliers can you also let us know the setting you have for irr map and lightcache?

My settings are pretty wacky and very scary - definately don't pay attention to them if your not using the 0.255 method

Hi all, ive just started using VRAY and im loving it. But i have a couple of questions regarding Vray Sun. Is it possible to change the colour of the sun? also i cant seem to change the environment map to an image of my choosing when Vray Sun is enabled, is this possible?

You can change the color of the SUn by changing its ozone and turbiduty multy....

I am reading all those threads on Vray, and I m really thinking on moving back to LIGHTSCAPE!

This is so heavy for brain, every RC has its own bugs!

...

Anyway, I gave up from lighting the room by VRAY SUN+SKY only, it took me about 3-4h for 1280/768 iamge on quad core, vray lights HAS to be added, even it is pure vray sun method. Then, why should I use Vray sun, camera....etc..at all? I can light the interior with 1.09 ver pretty fine, also with rectanlge lights on the windows.

PS-IRR Map was high/100/100 and thats the point where noise start to fade.
