navi
I have some wall planes which are flat but are modelled in more than one piece (i.e. 3 horizontal planes making up a wall surface) When rendered w/ radiosity these different pieces which use the same material are easily visible by variations in colour tone. Any tips on how to remedy this problem? (it must be quite common)
kainoa
Howz about some renders? Although without seeing any images i can only guess what might be the problem. Try modeling the wall using just 1 plane as opposed to 3 since they're the same material anyway. Or try using a smaller mesh subdivision when processing the rad. navi
here is an example of the problem. the inner panelling on the boards towards the centre of the image are all one material yet they display with various colour tones. the wood panelling trim is also showing similar results... abicalho
Either process to a higher initial Quality amount, or select the object and apply Refine Steps to it. This variance happens because of the way Radiosity is computed in 3dsmax/viz. Alexander
Cesar R
regathering fixes this a lot of times
nisus
regather EATs time... set refinements to 20 or so... try it... next mesh divide... try that too... rgds nisus
Cesar R
I think regathering is worth the time on a render like being that it is interior with a huge sky light
