Brett
I am having problems with Viz dumping me with no warning from Win 2000. I have a dual AMD with 1.5 gig from XI. Any ideas? I have had similar stability problems on a Dell with Viz 4. How many others are having stability problems?
Iain Denby
I had problems with the original release of Viz 4, but SP2 cured all problems. Didn't know there was a SP3.
david whiting
I had problems with VIZ4 crashing. I had a number of other autocad programs installed on my machine including autocad, cadoverlay, land development desktop and map. I'm running these on a dual xeon Dell. I discovered that autocad recommends installing autocad software in a particular order if you're installing a number of ACAD programs. VIZ for instance wants to be installed BEFORE your other ACAD programs. Check that each install works before installing the next. Check with autocad or your reseller (they gave me a list with an install order for my particular combination of software). I haven't had a crash since David
Brett
I do have ADT 3.3 and 4 installed. That seems like a ridiculous problem but it does seem to be more of a problem when I have AutoCAD running at the same time as Viz. (What do I have 1.5 gig and dual processors for?) I take that back about SP3 - it is SP2. I thought I read the other day that 3 was out but then found I was wrong. Thanks for your help.
formfinder
hello brett, I think it is like david already posted: these problems appear mainly if you don't have the right install order (you may have a look at http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2894386&linkID=982821 ) But concerning these problems with viz4 I do have another question, maybe someone can help: since my latest installation of W2k, viz4 does not shut down its process after finishing the app! does anyone have an idea? regards, steffen
Brett
I had the same problem on a Dell workstation – I have also seen this problem with Max. I can only say try to re-install. I never was able to get a strait answer on that issue.

Kerry Thompson
Hi I too am having reliability issues with Viz 4. I was running Viz on a dual AMD Asus XP based system and after four days of crashing, (usually blowing completely out of the system to cold boot, and then asking for a new auth code), AutoDesk refused to supply any further codes for that system. Same system runs ADT fine. Moving the Viz software to a Dell M50 Laptop seemed to stabilize its use but I have had one issue when coming out a a file, with an error [18] and then having to reboot the system to get it going again. A lot of my issues seem tied to the cdilla software protection system. AutoDesk has supplied me a code for the new install on the Dell but do I find Viz 4 more fragile than I am used to. I have had similar issues with Viz 4 on a computer where the DDR333 memory was not completly compatible with the motherboard of the computer. Using DDR266 memory stablised the system.
