Koper
We'll, to lazy to go home so i thought why not start a thread for myself and post WIP's of personal images. I really need to UP my game and the only time I have is after hours. I am gonna try to make this an ongoing one to track my progress. So this first image is just one of my fav photos from lostamerica.com, don't know why it is but it is. For now its just a start to kick of my WIP(scratch book) for now there is only a stucco texture on everything, and the rendering quality is low. To this point its only been about modeling and matching the cam. Next will be to get the different shades of grey of textures cool
stylEmon
good start. that website is pretty slick. I've seen that abandon horse track on the west side of town (phoenix) a few times, and thought it would be a nice place for some urban photography
Koper
yup, the guys taking the photos are very good, I love all the photos on that site. But getting that lighting in 3D is gonna be ONE BIG challenge, I think I must just render the lights all in white and in seperate passes so I can build it up in combustion or AE
stylEmon
well the site gives you some details on how the shot was taken. I would just try to re-create the same real-world tequniques in 3d space. EX: Since he used strobe flash with red gel, you can use a small directional light, tinted red. It looks like he pointed the red light behind the stairs, pointing towards the camera. So you can do the same in 3d. There will obviously be some compromises because the effect was created by leaving the shutter open for 4 minutes. But I would start with the most accurate re-creation of the real world scene. Then begin tweaking to get the light effect.
