Ricardo Borges
I often use the "Vray scene converter" to convert all standards materials to vray ones. Ok, but it forgets to check "trace reflections" and fresnels. Since these 2 are so important, why they are left? Is there a reason?
Ricardo Eloy
Max materials are not physically correct. That said, the scene converter only translates that into a VRay mat, meaning it has no reflection, although it still has some specularity.
Ricardo Borges
Well, the converter actually reads well reflections. It just doesn't check the "trace reflections", while "trace refractions" is always checked. Weird....
Ricardo Eloy
As I said, Max mats are not physical. They do have specularity, but without reflection. VRay Scene Converter only translates that, so if the standard mat has specularity and doesn't have reflection, the VRay mat created will be the same, i.e., no reflections traced. That's it.
