renderfarm suggestion for C4D/FinalRender2?

Recommended Posts

I came up empty on the Cebas forum, so I'm not expected a hit here, but might as well ask. I have a bunch of stills to render at 2500 - 3000 pixels wide in the next few days, way too much for my equipment. My client ordered a lot more renderings than I was expecting. But I have to get them all rendered before I go to California next Wednesday morning. I have been setting up my files to render with C4D/FR2.

As a fallback, I can use high quality settings (maybe even stochastic) and send the files to RenderCore for AR rendering.

I've never had so many renderings to complete in a few days, its quite a surprise that I got last evening when the client chose their views. It would be nice if I didn't hit a wall with FR2 again.

Anyone know of a farm for C4D/fr2?

Hi Ernest. You're probably familiar with Dann Stubbs' Renderking.com, but if you're not it's a great resource. There are many deadlines I couldn't possibly have made without it. The pricing is very reasonable and his support regularly goes above and beyond the call of duty. I just checked his site and see that he has discontinued support for fR2, but it's probably worth contacting him to see what the options are.

i second every word said by Jack :)

we have a running account with renderking. Dann Stubbs has a wonderful customer service and will glady talk with you to sort your concerns out.

even if he's stopped FR2 support, i'm sure he can sort something out for you.

plus, his native weapon of choice is cinema 4d :)

Dann is a great guy. He was one of the four renderfarms that can't do fr2. He said it was too much hassle, no Mac version (despite one being promised two years ago) and the lack of timely updates to fix problems that made him decide to stop offering it. He wasn't going to be able to get it back up to work for my project.

One farm in Germany said they were working on offering fr2/C4D but don't yet, the other two said 'sorry, no'.

It's taken all day yesterday to test setting with AR for GI. Despite its problems, fr2 does very nice interior GI, and much faster than AR. But I'm finally at settings I can accept, and have to move forward as fast as I can.

This might be my last project with fr2. vray for Cinema should be out soon, and once I have that, I don't see the upside to continuing to fight with fr2, promising as it has been.

I would think you could get people on the forum (like Arnold) to help you....

Yes, I'm sure that's right. I have the backup of rendering without fr2, and that means there are several farms to choose from. It's just a pain to set up an entire scene to render one way, then have to adjust things for a different engine.
