tayrona
Hi, I am working on an exterior animation where floors must be black, this condition is making that ceilings and objects placed above the floors look black too.... I am posting two images with same ilumination, one with black floor and other with white floor... (Please dont advise me to use lights from above!!!) I wonder if there is a setting in vray that avoids this "color bleeding" (I remember I could do that with max light tracer)
AJLynn
Do the GI only, save the GI, then make the floor black?
Tommy L
Or you can clone the floor and give the clone a pale material and move it down a cm or so. The tell the black floor not to cast shadows or generate GI. Therefore, the pale floor will throw the light back up and provide bounced illumination. kippu
use the vray override material ... put the material in base material and the GI material in GI slot
tayrona
Thanks to andrew, I tried all options exposed and your solution was the best....
kippu
i thought my method would just eliminate the whole step of saving and reusing because the white material would be the GI and the black material be the one which is seen ...damn i lost

I think Andrews method was by for the inferior of all suggestions and I demand a re-test.
AJLynn
Sorry, I should have preceded that with my usual disclaimer, "This is a kludge and probably not the efficient way to do it, but..." I figure Kippu's answer is probably the correct one. But Tommy's was also a great big kludgefest.
