hello people..

im working on a project with membrane structures, and i try to use a program to achieve a succesfull form..i would like to use cones mainly..

i saw formfinder and other programs but are really expensive for me, and also i cant make them on autocad..i allready work 3dsmax a bit , so i try to make my forms on this program...

can anyone help me on what can i use to make a membrane like structure? i tried to play with meshes but i cant really achieve membrane structures...

i saw a post by david barbarash, but i couldnt understand much!!!---(...You should look into "soft-selection" in the help menu. Create your shape, extrude it, collapse to a patch or some kind of solid and subdivide it. Then using soft selection, just grab the center point and pull up in the Z direction. Then just delete the faces in the center of the cone you've just created to get the opening....)--

please help!!!!!

i found out that its easy to play with meshes and soft selection to creat a nice form...the problem for the conic membrane is that i cant make the cycle on the top..u see i grab the vertices or the face on the top with soft selection and the peak is allways triangle or polygonal!!

how can make a specific shape on the peak? cause vertices or faces make allways polygonal shapes!(or im wrong?)

i would like to make something like this...multiple circle peaks in the same mebrane...i think i have to make the form on 3dsmax and then import to autocad to complete the architectural project with dimensions etc..(autocad made my nerves broke with meshes!!!)

my problem is to give to the peaks certain shapes, like circle...
