My drawing is taking a long time to regenerate. Anyone know how I can rectify this? Thanks in advance.

HP Compaq Presario, Pentium 4, 512 Ram. Drawing is 2044 KM. It's non-three dimensional, has a lot of hatching. I guess you could say it's a big drawing. Let me know if you need any more info. Just a novice user. Use it only a few times a year. Just know your basic commands.

Thanks

hatching slows down a drawing big time. and a pentium 4 with 1/2 gig ram is a real slow computer these days. your problem sounds quite normal im afraid.

why not layer and switch off the hatching until you need it?

i'm going to take a guess and say that it is autocad 2007 (or 2008 ?) and that you are using a visual style like hidden or conceptual, which is taking processer time to regenerate.

another guess is the hatching, for sure......freeze the hatch layer and see what happens (turning it off is not enough)

I changed the density of the hatching and also the viewres and that seemed to work. Thanks for the replies.
