Dave Buckley
Sounds ever so simple i know, but how do i get rounded edges on extruded text???, i no that if i use a&d shader with mental ray i can get the appearance of rounded edges. But i want to be able to chamfer the edges of some sort so that i can use it for booleans, wheneva i try and chamfer there's always problems. The render attached is with some sample text, the blue text has literally been extruded with no rounding of the edges, the brushed metal has the rounded edges option activated in the material, please help with how to do it naturally and not faked with a shader
markf
use the Bevel Profile modifier. You make a spline with your desired shape and it sends that around each letter of the text. Kind of like a loft. This is how I did the 3D in my logo.
