pro/cons windows xp32 vs. vindows xp64

Now that time has passed and we are dealing with more and more 64 bit processors, I was wondering what the advantages and disadvantages of using windows xp pro 32 vs. windows xp pro 64 would be on a new core 2 duo processor.

 

I would be using max 8 with vray mostly.

 

what do you guys reccomend, I upgrade my os to 64 bits or not.

 

another thing to consider, the other computers in the firm are mostly single processor P4's that I use as distributed bucket render nodules or sometimes backburner servers.

Max8 doesn't have a 64 bit version so you don't gain that much, but there are still some memory handling advantages especially with virtual memory. The disadvantages are that some software doesn't work (it's case by case and you need to check on every program you use) and some hardware doesn't have drivers (same deal).
