DaveP
Please help, the attached visual renders ok at 1500px x 1500px ( vray1.5 and max 9). As soon as we go above this level the image crashes. I have tried removing shadow recieving form the plants, splitting the image up in backburner, lowering the LC. Backburner just reports back unexpected error and max 9 does not give any clues to the problem either. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards David
amer abidi
well since its a relatively simple scene, i would suggest checking your system resources. Does it crash as a result of memory consumption? (check through Task manager). Try turning off Vray displacement if used on Grass (since it consumes up a lot of memory) Another solution that might help is the /3GB switch in boot.ini file. read up more about it here: http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14564 hope this helps Amer
PGD
Sound like a memory issue to me too. Do you have RPC's in there? They can cause this I find. Maybe split the image up further too, ie foreground plants seperate, people seperate etc, then layer it up in PS. This will give you more control too
Zdravko Barisic
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. render by regions?? split image into 4 region and unite them into PS?
hughie
Have you got any large maps in the scene? Do you really need to use backburner for a single frame? and you could try outputing the LC and IR to file first, then render from file.
manta
Yes...and you should be able to create the LC and IRR files from this size, and reuse them on a bigger render without any problems...
Thablanch
http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19643&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=memory you will find: (*) Make sure you are using the V-Ray VFB; (*) In the Common tab of the Render scene dialog set the resolution to something like 320x240; (*) In the V-Ray VFB settings, turn OFF the "Get resolution from Max" option for the VFB, and specify the actual resolution that you need; (*) Turn off the "use memory frame buffer" option; (*) Turn on the "write raw image file" option and specify a .vrimg file in the field below it. (*) Turn on the "generate preview" option. (*) After the rendering is complete, use the vrimg2exr tool to extract the render elements as .exr files. You can find the vrimg2exr tool in the Start menu > Programs > Chaos Group > V-Ray for 3dsmax > Tools. There is also a GUI for it posted in the off-topic section of the forum, I think. Also, the use of dynamic memeory
Joseph Petrino
Vray displacement. Switching from 3D displacement to 2D displacement solved all my large render crash problems. Set precision to 1 also. It will render much faster as well. hope that helps
