Billabong
I'm trying to make just a standard illuminated light from a cieling, kind of like a light bulb. I have tried creating just a vray light material and add a frosted glass to either the color channel or the opacity one, but it wont allow it and if i just use a vray light material, it looks to flat, i also tried the fresnal falloff in the light material, but that didnt look so good either, any suggestions? FancyPants
Try playing with a VRAY Blend material, with the base being a Vray Light Mtl, and the blend a Vray Material.. play with the mix levels and highlight glossiness.. keep it simple at first, and add more complexity only if you need to. aaron-cds
Use the vray2sided material with a cylinder or plane behind the lense with a vraylightmaterial applied. You can use a vraylight but your render times will jump up.

I always wondered how to get a vraylightmaterial with a bitmap to be reflective. Thanks! I assume this is the way to do it.
