vizwhiz
i might do The 30 day free download Trial and check it out as long as it doesnt overwrite what is already working, haha my main interest in The File Link Manager situation and btw has anyone ever used The ActiveShade render option? That seems cool and finally There is some documention on how To use it randy
Ricardo Eloy
Not sure how useful ActiveShade is, nowadays. I mean, most of us use third-party renderers, and I don't think they'll ever be suported, i.e. we can't use it to preview lighting or materials (I might be wrong). What I really want to see is some improvements regarding viewport speed. Max has been such a pain to work with viewport-wise, and even 9 is a bit unstable with the Direct3D display... I really would love to see a smooth, fast and stable viewport.
AJLynn
They seem to be claiming that the mental ray Arch&Design materials and some other things like sun&sky and HDR environments are compatible with a new activeshade-like system using DirectX, with shadows etc. Great news for mental ray people. Justin Hunt
I am quite interested in that as well. I too hope they have fixed more than they broke with 9, especially with the file link manager. I do find it funny how they wax lyrical about the FLM when it is so full of bugs. The enhanced AO with colour bleed is also interesting JHV
