Dave Buckley
rite a while back, i was lookin through some renderings for inspiration, i came across one and no a few months on i can't for the life of me think where i saw it and who did it. I no it was a post on a forum but which one is anybodys guess. anyway . . . it was a set of renders done buy some guy, the building in the renders was like a toilet building on the beach, it had glass walls but with a sand layer in between the double glazing. There was a few renders, day, night, exterior, interior anyone got any pointers for the rite direction
Dave Buckley
how random, was lookin through the evermotion visualization work forum, noticed how many pages there were, knew what i was lookin for was from a while back, so i selected page 19 at random so that the date of the posts weren't so recent. and guess wot was on the bloody page. yep u guessed it, the work i was lookin for, now you can all admire it for yourselves. i cannot find a fault, and if that sand has been created in 3d then give yourself a pat on the back my son http://www.evermotion.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=59854
Koper
wow, very good, the sand was probably done in 3d. Now, did you memorize the guyz name???
Tommy L
Yes he describes the process for creating the sand in the thread (vray displacement) and that is a lovely set of images. What I like is the way he got the light coming through the thin layer of sand in the double glazing so convincingly.

JamesTaylor
here his description for craring the sand "The sand is made using vray displacement mod, 2d mapping, amount 5cm, resolution 768, precision 8, tight bounds is turned on. The displacement map was painted in photoshop. I googled for some reference beach photos and tried to create a single "footstep" displace brush. Then I painted 2048x2048 map using it. Actually it doesn't look like footstep at all, but I liked it so I left it as it was . The map is 2,33mb tiff format. I can share it with you if you want, just pm me and leave your mail adress."
