muzzy
I usually model with AutoCAD and then render in Max. Is there any difference modeling with AutoCAD or Max ? Is modeling with Max can be better ? Thank you
William Alexander
Muzzy, Both have thier own advatanges. Autocad is very precise and the user interface is build around it. The solids created are just that basic solids. The minimum amount of vertices to define a volume. The advantage is the autosnap and paper drafting conventions. The output of course is most commonly plotted line drawings. Max is more free form based. Not to say the function is not there to model like autocad. It allows the user to mold and shape. It's closer to sketching, than drafting in 3 dimensions. The real advantage is as you are using it, 3D images with a high quality output. The max platform is better in many ways. Simply the control over the mesh and it's vertices by comaparing modeling capabilities. If your architecural in your orientation, this control is not always needed. In most cases can be set up, by changing the meshing settings in autocad, isolines and so forth. I would suggest learning to model with max. Look around the forums and the cgarchitect home page for tutorials, there are many out there. I use the max platform to modify many aec objects created in architectural desktop, autocad. Create the free form stuff curved sidewalks, entourage like chairs, drapery in viz/max. Because that is where autocad falls short. In my opinion it's not which is better, but which one works best for a task, within the total project. Ultimately they both work well in harmony doing what each software does best. How well they are used is a large factor. That's my 2 cents, hope it's helpful. rgrds WDA
muzzy
Thanks , WDA. I do architectural modeling. My 2D plans , sections of projects are already drawn in AutoCAD, I just use the plans and extrude them after that rendering in MAX. AutoCAD modeling can decrease the render speed or increase file size something like that ? Thanks to everyone again.
STRAT
can we please not create yet another thread regarding max V's acad for modelling? look here - http://www.cgarchitect.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=11;t=000289
