RyanSpaulding
Hey guys, Is there any advantage to having the basic quad core vs one of the top duos? I'm noticing that a lot of the higher powered duo's are actually more expensive than the quads. So which is better for 3d stuff? Is there an advantage to having more quads vs higher powered duos? STRAT
it's the same as the single procs and the duos. the average duo doesn't have to be faster than a higher spec'd single.
AJLynn
Anything that's not multithreaded uses one core at a time, like most things a 3D app does aside from rendering - so for these tasks the speed per core matters more than the number of cores. Anything that's multithreaded can use more than one core at a time, and most renderers can fully utilize all your cores, so for rendering the total speed of all the cores together is important.
