jcsDesigns
Hi All Please could you help me reduce my rendering times, I am currently working on a computer with 4gig memory with 4 dual proccessors .. which in thorey should be very fast! But when I set my current scene to render, it says it will take approx 68hrs!!!??? The setting are high to be fare. Some information as follows:- 453 Render Objects, 858 Render Instance, 133 Render Lights, Tracing 1000000 Iamge Samples for Light Cache, Light Cache contains 9275 samples in 8 passes. The output size is 990x540mm I have attached a view of the render in procces to which still had 68hrs left until I stopped it! and also a view of the boardroom which only took 5hrs, to which I am still adding things too. Lookforward to your comments. Jamie
BrianKitts
your light cache samples are way too high.... are you using irradiance for your primary or are you only using light cache? I've been using a preset lately which I've aptly labeled the "Brian Smith Standard" and for what I do the results are always right on.... (thx brian) ir map, medium preset, hsph subdivs=20, inter samples=50 lc subdivs = 1500 adapt qmc image sampler with a min/max = 2/5 or 3/6 everything else at the default value...i think you will find good results
Devin Johnston
Use Brian's settings, yours are insanely high.
Aaron2004
If your attached images are the ones with 133 lights...you have WAY to many lights...Vray is powerful and efficient enough to get the job done with just a fraction of that.
alfienoakes
And you wouldn't want to wait 68 hours only to see a great looking render and that badly tiled carpet in the board room......
