Autodesk Impression - First attempt

We had an autodesk impression rep come into our office over the last couple days and had a bit of fun turning out this image to help test out the software. Seems pretty quick and easy and generated from straight CAD linework. This took around 45 min or so form importing to saving the image. Comments/critiques appreciated.

Anyone else give the software a shot? Think it will work well in you're visualization pipeline?

Agree with that whole heartedly. I think if I were to use it, I would take the "on the fly" approach just using the "freehand" tools instead of formatting a complex cad file to work synonymously with the program.

Being archi viz'ers we all understand how long it can take to clean up line work sometimes. It seems to me this is counter intuitive to the notion of the program which is meant to be quick and easy.

oh well,

Mike

Great image! One of our main goals was to make Impression easy to learn and get started with.

For the next release we're focusing on removing the need to have good layer organization and a much improved Area Fill tool. We've found that many users don't like to work with organized layers and closed plines.

Hey Mike!

It was great that you could spent time in my little class last week. I appreciate your valuable input. Your image and the others I collected from the group are well received by the Impression development team. I hope you get a chance to dig a little deeper and tell us what you think.

We have great things planned for Impression. Things that I think will lend themselves well to the kind of work you do. As Rod said, if you have time, please join the Impression Beta team and help us develop this great new tool.

Cheers,

-Todd
