jinsley
Good afternoon all, I am currently trying to render a project with MR and I am having some problems... I keep getting error messages (RCGI 0.2 error 361053), it has to do with photons. I have done some reading and know it has something to do with GI. It has been suggested that I try putting a box around the entire scene and flipping the normals... but this doesn't seem to work. Can anyone help? Thx! jinsley
This model is being done in 3DS Max 8, model imported from CAD... No GI, no FG, Caustics turned on... the error message says: "no photons stored after emitting 1000000 photons (canceling emission)" The materials I am using are all raytrace, and the glass is the "Glass (physics_phen)"... Could this be because of a problem with the solids after importing from CAD? What other informaiton can I give you guys? Thx for the help.
jinsley
oh, and no daylight system... only mr omni lights and mr targeted spotlight set to directional...
jinsley
Hi, yes... all objects that I wish to generate caustics are set to in the properties/mental ray panel... I also just realized that I am only having this problem when I have the MR light set to directional... not when it is set to spotlight... ??? jinsley
Hi Brian, Yes, I have checked and double-checked all of my objects and whether they are set to generate or receive caustics... I have resorted to just using the mr spot light... as this seems to fix the error messges. Thx for all the help, but I think I am going to just keep pushing along as I still have 4 more developments to finish for the end of the month... and then if I can't get the site and building models to function with MR properly... I will use the scanline... *sigh Haha, thx for the hand guys!
