I completely agree with Gary on this. Another thing to consider is that you're thesis will end up as another version of the information that's already out there. Since you don't have a vast amount of professional experience in the field, I don't see how you could possibly provide a personal perspective on these topics. Having an interest in 3d is not going to be enough to give you the insight you'll need to write a thesis of this magnitude. I've been doing this for nearly ten years, starting with scanline and I don't think I would be able to write this thesis.

 

More importantly, comparing your thesis to physically modeling is a much better reason not to do this thesis.
