Did you try the super secret Lume glare camera shader? You need to unhide it first by going to max directory\mentalray\shaders_standard\include and editing lume.mi to remove the hidden flag and the comma at the end of the line before it in the gui_Glare section.

I bellieve thers a material called Vray light mtl, just use that, it should work fine, like a light emiter, reproduces well enought the glow, appears on reflections, etc. (I believe the video post doesnt)

Check that frame buffer is on, and make a different pass (on the elements list, on the renderer tab) for that, a specular pass for example.

add that pass to your render in photoshop, adjust a gaussian blur, and you should get a nice control on your glow.

At least its what I do to create glows with vray.
