djohnson129
....or the best way. I just model them using a plane and the FFD modifier to squinch it up and then pull out some wrinkles. Or if its a more detailed wrinkled curtain I'll model it in Zbrush and bring it to Max. Just wondering how you guys make curtains? -David
aaron-cds
I create a plane with several vertical segments. I convert it to a edit-poly then apply a noise modifier. Lastly, I apply a turbo smooth modifier. If the camera will be really close to the curtains I'll apply a shell modifier. If the curtians will be tied off in the middle, I use a ffd modifier. Ricardo Eloy
I usually use reactor to animate an opening curtain and then take the best frame and use it.
Sawyer
Ok Rick why do you use reactor over the cloth modifier? I have been using cloth and I really like it but its been so long since I played with reactor I honestly can't say which one is better.
djohnson129
Smoothing a noise modifier sounds like a good idea. I'll have to try that. How about the shader for the curtain? I've been using the thin geometry option. Got any other favorites?
