Andy Park
I'm doing an interior of a conservatory and couldn't find a free wicker texture, so I thought I'd make one and share it. it's seamless too.
Fran
Thanks Andy! These look very good. What program did you use to create them? I have a chair I'd like to test it on. I'm having issues with the model, but if I can fix it up, and it turns out nice, I'll post the results.
Andy Park
It was a photograph, I used photoshop to make it seamless and create the bump map. hope you find it useful, was thinking about doing a different type of wicker, the type with round cane, will need to make diffuse, bump and opacity for that though. Brian Cassil
I made one that I used extensively for several interiors I did recently but it wasn't as clean as this one. Thanks!

vizwhiz
ok, now how do we add This To our 'un-official' Texture Thread? http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/showthread.php?t=22732&page=2 hey Jeff, can we make The Texture Thread List into some kind of sticky? maybe There is some way To make it a searchable database? so That we can file The Texures by some kind of category? and or by website url? just some idle curiosity questions Thanks randy
Fran
Between Chema Guerra and myself, we came up with this displacement map based on Dani's that gives a rounded caning and the ability to use a water level feature that both fryrender and Vray have. You specify the depth, and what is below that is cut. In this case, the black areas. Here is a Mies van der Rohe chair I modeled and rendered from Rhino with fryrender. I used Andy's diffuse map and tweaked the tonemapping from the fryrender bitmap parameters, to make it darker. I could have made the reflections on the chrome a bit more interesting. Maybe I'll redo and update it later. Thanks for the inspiration Andy!
Andy Park
Fran thats awesome. People should post more textures and then we can all benefit from the collaborated effort. Your chair looks great. Well I've got my first interview for a visualiser job this afternoon. Fingers crossed.

daniohayon
Prefect chair fran! I've never heard about the waterline option in VRay, I guess you'll have to generate a Cutout map for MR to get the same effect. I wish there would be an equivalent site to http://www.vray-materials.de/ for Mental Ray materials. I know some attempts were made in the past but nothing so strait forward. Fran
Question for anyone on this thread: Fran uses a cutoff to for her texture on the chair, is there anything like this for mental ray? Hi Andy, I think you would just use an opacity map for the cut out bits.
