Hi all, I am just enquirying on what is the best procedure for modelling your vizualisations?

I currently use AutoCad but I have seen some people have mentioned they use 3D Max.

What is your preference for modelling and which is the better way of doing it in terms of time, precision, quality etc.?

there is no 'best'. some prefer AutoCAD or cad, some prefer C4D, some Max/Viz, some SketchUp. each has it's pros'n'cons.

i model in acad, max and a bit in c4d. i prefer acad because i happen to be allot more proficient in it.

Thanks for your reply. What is this C4D that u talk of? I havn't heard of that before!

I have a stronger ACAD background myself so do u think i wud b better concentrating on that programme rather than trying to learn another programme for modelling?

Also, for site plans, especially ones with lots of varying levels, are these possible in ACAD or is 3d Max the way to go here?

i think the more modeling programs you know the better. if you have the scope, learn all you can. it'll only equip you better :) each modeling method will supliment the next.

yes, acad is fine. max or maya for example might do it differently and seem easier, but a good modeler can use any chosen software to model any model.

stay open minded.

Hi there

I model using Microstation xm it's a breeze and very accurate. It is very useful when its a big scene and you need a lot of references or different

models, layouts etc. Also they have put some sketch up tools in the program

now which are brilliant. It also exports to all the main formats very easily. I

File Link using dwg's no problems

Hope this helps

Tommy
