Brian Cassil
Does anyone use a tablet PC? I'm looking at getting a simple laptop and as I was shopping I remembered the tablet PC which would be kind of nice for taking to meetings and marking up digital images etc... that is if it works. Seems somewhere in the recesses of my memory I remember people complaining about major probs with the OS.
Ernest Burden III
Poor man's Wacom large display/tablet? I would doubt the usability of a tablet PC, in terms of how much you could really get out of it vs. simply drawing on paper. Most meetings are not situations where you can be scribbling away on a computer. You usually have to be drawing in a way that everyone can see, and pass around. Perhaps in a field visit it would be useful for your own notes, but I'm not an architect so I only go the the field to throw a Frisbee.

However I have had several meetings where it would have been nice to be able to bring up an image and refer to it that I didn't necessarily have planned. Although I suppose a regular old laptop would suffice for that. I guess the tablet stuff would be a nice perk and maybe worth paying for if I didn't have to sacrifice anything else which brings me back to the original question: are there any issues with the OS that anyone has experienced? Chad Warner
One of the guys I work with got a gateway laptop that has a screen that flips down so it can act like a tablet pc. It seems to work pretty well, but I've only seen him play with it, nothing too intense.
AJLynn
This sounds like a job for the coolest/most ridiculous cell phone ever. (Seriously, how great would that be on job sites. Note that it's actually got 2 CPUs and 2 OSes - Vista Business and Windows Mobile (CE) 6.)
josephskibba
I bought a HP TC4200 about a year ago and love it. Even if you don't use the tablet function it works just like a normal laptop, and it's nice that it's there when you need it. My advice is .. go for it. You won't be sorry.
