Arnold Grove
hello lads, when I try to adjust the tiling of my diffuse map, I have to go into all the other maps dialogs and adjust as well....that is, when the maps are separate...dif, spec, bump, displ, etc.... of course when the same map is in the other channels, it updates.... so is there a way to adjust one setting, tilling, projection, etc...on my diffuse map...(or any other channel) and have it apply to all the other maps in the other channels so i dont have to go into each one? thanks, ag
PAWUK
Have you applied a UVW map to the object
Arnold Grove
dont think so...newbie to max...applied vray mats...but i always have to change from expl. channel to (in this case, planeer proj) no exp. w/ uvw mapping time for a uvw map tut
manta
Well there's a couple ways, adding a uvw map to your object, and you can control the tiling for the entire texture, (all map slots) or when you drag your map to the various slots (I'm assuming that's what your doing) choose instance, and then when you change the tiling on the diffuse, it will change on all other slots that were instanced... moodo
normally all the uv paramters from an texture should be the same. and tehrefore is the uvw map the best one. another way to have a general survey to adjust the paramters, is the parameter collector under aniamtion where you can pick up all the differend kinds of parameters. Arnold Grove
hey manta, they were vray mats so the bit maps were in the slots already..but instance wont work in this case because the dif, bump, dipl, etc are separate maps...not one map used in all...(right?) moodo, general survey to adjust the paramters New to Max so I havent yet learned the parameter collector... you guys are freakin' awsome
manta
Yes, then you'll need to control the tiling in the uvw mapping...

manta
Hmmm...after looking at that Tut, perhaps that was more than you needed, maybe first you should just experiment with the UVW map modifier, and play around with the various settings, before getting into unwrapping...
