jccloutier
I need to scatter an omni light onto every vertex of a sphere but it won't let me. is there another way I'm overlooking?
Ricardo Eloy
There was a script that did that... Take a look at scriptspot.com. I think it's E-light or something. Just out of curiosity: what would you need that for?

Just out of curiosity: what would you need that for? Thanks. It's actually what it sounds like. A large metal sphere with lights on the vertexes. It will be animated so I will change the colors of the LED's to the music.
jucaro
how about using lattice mod on the sphere with just the joints and assigning a self illuminated map/vraylightmtl (if you are using vray) on the joint's mat IDs? It may also give you more simplified control and it renders faster then using the omnis. unless you want the omni light (LED) to contribute to the scene lighting. AlNe
Try this: http://www.max3dstuff.com/max4/scatter/help.html (works in 3dmax up to 8 version)

Yes, the omni contribute to the scene and also have a volume light effect so they need to be light objects. But I'm sure your tip will be useful in the future.
