Macpod
I'm currently using a desktop with e6600+7950GT, so every thing is fast with 50% or less loading on the CPU+GPU (Except when rendering of course). to be honest this is an overkill for work. due to work relocation i will be needing to work on a laptop. currently im looking at the dell vostro series with the 8600GT graohics card. Im sure my 3d programs will not be a problem with the 8600GT but im a bit unsure about the lowend CPU. Will the new santarosa 1.6 (800fsb, 4MB cache) be enough for architectural work in CAD, Illustrator, and max. I'm willing to wait an extra minute for rendering but i still would like instant refreshes in illustrator and other such programs. the 1.8ghz option is 100 extra( i doubt thats worth it) and the 2ghz is 279 extra. the 2ghz might bring some advantages to rendering but i think i would have to go to 2.2ghz for any significant improvement.......but at significant cost. I would ideally like to keep the 1.6 option since i have great faith in core duo technology. But im willing to be convinced otherwise by people who actually used those programs with that spec. Cheers Mac
