Problem with 3ds max9 64 bits

I have recently moved to 64 bits 3dsmax 9 for one of my recent project since 32 bits version was not able to handle the massive polycount at all. Now when I try to do some part of modeling of that same project in a 32 bits 3dsmax 9 it crashes. Is there any such thing like, max file created in 64 bits version will not render in 32 bits version? In 32 bit the modeling works pretty well but whenever i go for some draft test renders of even a small object it crashes immediatly. Is there any way to solve this problem?

hi pradipta,

files created in the 64bit version of max can open in the 32bit version. the problems you are experiencing could due to a few factors, could be due to some bad 3d meshes in your scenes. i have no problem opening and editing my max scenes in both versions, as i use both 32 and 64bit max. it could also due to your lights, check your render error log messages for what kind of errors the renderer is showing, from there you could pinpoint the probable causes of the crash, and when scenes are created in the 64bit version, especially those heavy scenes with millions of polygons and hundreds of lights, the 64bit max could handle them pretty well, but once you open in the 32bit version, it crashes, as the file is too big or too low memory for the 32bit to handle, speaking from my experiences that is

:)

Thanks Anwar and Zika,

I will surely check the render error log, there must be some clues to whats creating the problem. I will keep you updated after I spend some more time with file and recreate some mesh.

I am using OGL driver for both the system, but, I havent installed sp2. May be tat can solve the problem also.
