robkar97
Hi! I wonder of a professional visualiser like you guys at this forum use the AEC features of MAX? I both like them and find them frustrating and very hard to edit... The parametric approach to adding windows and doors is useful if the client changes his mind and want the model updated. Is box modelling or boolean modeling better in genereal? Any input on this would be great. Sincerely, Robert Karlsson
denham
they suck, except for the railings & stairs. imo
Bubbaloo
I only use them for construction documents. I model everything in Max.
Ricardo Eloy
Imo, they are only heavy geometry. Besides, my clients normally ask for doors/windows/stair that have nothing to do with these standards...
Sawyer
I used them for one drawing a few years ago and I really regretted it. I haven't touched the walls sense but I will use the doors and windows if I need a generic door or window.
chandankr50
even i think the box modelling and boolean is much better then aec walls. or else do the lines and extrude it and make the cut-outs for doors and windows,.
ajvbochove
No AEC for walls. Railing & Stairs can be done. Use standard modelling technique's Then use linked X-form to use it's feature. Select the vertices that make the opening --> then select Linked X-form and Pick the window. When you move the window the opening will follow. -- that's the way I like it! --
dpcaltdcah
we sometimes use the railings as windows if we need something fast. you set them to solid panel and then make the panel material glass. It's good if you need to divide a long expanse of glass evenly and you don't have a drawing. I only use the stairs for circular staircases. otherwise not really. only3d
handle with care!!! i cant specify all pros & cons but trust me, ur better off without them. i used them once for a model and each time i closed & re-opened the file all the windows moved. very frustrating and not-understandable as oppsed to other more intelligent software.
