Why two monitors?

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody

I have often come across in the forums that several of you are using two monitors. What is the advantage? How do you set up two monitors? There is only one monitor connection outlet in the CPU.

Can somebody give me a link where I can see the advantages of two monitors?

Thanks in advance

With best regards

PRSS

To have twice as much working space, its as simple as that. I work with MAX on one screen, photoshop / Autocad on the other and would not have it anyother way beats mucking about with Alt- Tab any day of the week!

Most decent High end graphics cards will have duel output i run an ATI fire 7350 which is fantastic and will handle anthing i can through at it!

So do it....:) ( unless your desk is too small!)

actually our whole office runs on dual 19 inch flat screens. Its awesome as we use one screen for modelling and another screen for all the tablets, modifiers. It just speeds things up as opposed to moving stuff out of the way in order to see what you are doing. PC does come with only one serial outlet for a single monitor but if you buy a decent video card that usually comes with another one so you are able to set up a dual monitor. I definetely highly recomend it..

3rd one for watching movies!?? or what?

unfortunately I went back to one monitor when I got hired as the company only believe in the use of one (3d dep.), but we are slowly getting wide screens.

as for speed, in max, hit ctrl-x and learn how to work in this expert mode without any menus (except right-click), you'd be surprised of fast it goes.

i agree, it would be nicer to have the cad drawings open on a second screen, but working with 2-4 drawings at the same time will also slow down just as much as alt-Tabing.

The thing is, some programs are just (automatically?) made for dual-screens, such as combustion, (combustion automatically splits workspace over 2 monitors if you have it)

ranting over:o

on your screen card you will get the normal (svga?) socket (the one all pc monitors use and you know how it looks) then for the second you get a socket with loads more pins, and it doesn't resemble the (svga?) socket. all you need is a converter from that socket to the (svga?) one, which you can get at any pc dealer. I don't know but maybe the new cards now come with 2 (svga?) socket.

(svga? - is that right ?? please correct me someone!)

ps. if you can use two monitors, do it!!
