salf
ok...i got a new question.....im new in here and already posted like 4 questions...hehehe Anyways, i was doing some renderings at work, and i noticed one thing with the glass material, in some parts of the image, the glass edges looks ...dunno...weird...im at home now, an dthe renderings are at work so i cant post them in here....ill see if i can reproduce the issue, but in the meantime, let me explain it. Imagine a window, youre not looking straight at it, but in some perspective kinda way, so you see the wall then window then wall, in the window edges (against the windows wall frame) the glass sometimes looks like a thin black line (it supposed to thats the glass thickness) but in some parts that black line doesnt looks "smooth" or "stright", but looks like with bigger pixels and sometimes with some white spots....dunno if you understand me..but if you do, how to fix that? MegaPixel
Hi Salf, Sounds like you're relatively new to VIZ/MAX so chances are you don't know too much about Super Sampling? There was a post here a few weeks ago on this very topic but I'll try to sum it up the best I can. When you use a Raytrace Material for the Glass, the edges around the perimeter of the Glass tend to look more "Aliased" then they should - Especially at Lower Resolution Renderings. To Improve upon this, you should enable the Glass Material's Super Sampling. CgArchitect member Fran recommended using the Adaptive Haltron (Or something like that) Sampler with about a .5 Quality which is a good balance between Speed and Quality of the "Anti-Aliasing". Try to Think of Super Sampling as giving your Materials and Objects Extra Special Attention to Detail. Hope this helped a little - MegaPixel.
