Involuntary 2-sided materials in viewport

Hi,

 

I can't get stop materials from being displayed as 2-sided in the viewports. I've unchecked "Force 2-sided" (rightclicking the title of the viewport > Rendering method tab) and I haven't used 2-sided materials.

 

If I render a scene with a box where I've flipped a few polygons it shows that the box is filled with gaps, but in the viewport it's solid.

 

I use DirectX as graphics mode and is using 3ds max 9.0 on Windows XP.
