Dave Buckley
Any1 got any good tips on making a realistic carpet like material in Max 9/Mental Ray 3.5? The examples that i like have all been done with Vray and displacement, i guess that this method could also be done with MR but i wouldn't have a clue where to start??? Tips very very welcome
Andy Park
two ways you could do this, use displacement, there are a few good tuts on mr displacement, they're for grass but easily modified to suit your needs. use hair/fur. I use hair/fur for my grass and it does the trick nicely, i've not done it but i think you could tweak the settings for some sort of rug effect. Dave Buckley
yeh tried the hair and fur trick, it gets the job done to a degree but its far too render intensive wen it comes to large scenes
Andy Park
would it be feasible to break it down and composite it later?
