Neil Woodhouse
Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right place....but How do i make/convert a jpeg image of a section of brick wall into a seamless texture map. I'm working on some properties where the brick comes from a quarry, the stone company has supplied me with some images of properties already built from this particular type of stone from which i've cut what i think is a good section using photoshop. However when i map it onto the buildings it doesn't look v-good. How do i do it. I attach image that i've cut. Regards Neil Woodhouse
edub
check out tutorials on how to make seamless textures in photoshop. I'm adding a link to one I found on Google - there's more, if this one doesn't do it for you: http://highpoly3d.com/writer/tutorials/tileable/seamless.htm
Virgil Johnson
Hi Neil Is it the problem is the repeating of the same pattern? Assuming this... you have two problems. One is you need a bigger swatch of different forms of the texture. That is... take the bitmap and perhaps flip it and/or change it and add the new texture to the existing bitmap. Keeping changing and adding to make an image as big and varied as you can. This will of course give a better image. Now if the repeating pattern still is a problem say on a large surface you need to do a little more in Max. Take a look here for suggestions. Follow the link presented at this site to overly maps for more ideas. 3D Total - The cg artists home page (This should take you into the details of one of the texture DVDs offered and there you will find the link to the overlay maps issue.) Hope this answers the question. Virgil
Nic H
Hi Neil, I reckon if you can save half an hour and $4 you might find this useful. http://gnomonology.com/tutorial/18 its pretty much the same as the other tut posted.
