Hallock
Hi, I've worked for various architects doing freelance work since high school, but I've not yet worked for anyone outside the state of Michigan. I know there can be some price disparities between places like Michigan--whose housing market is nothing right now--and Arizona where this job is located. I don't want to short-change myself and undercut other people in that market. The project is two still images of an incoming sculpture and a 60 second walk-through animation that leads up to circling said sculpture (which has already been made in 3DSMAX I should add). The buildings surrounding the sculpture need have little detail and no maps, they should be basic building block structures so as not to detract from the sculpture. I'm wondering if anyone had some recommendations for a fair pricing? I tried looking at the salary data, but that wasn't quite as helpful in deciding this as I thought it would be. Thank you. aaron-cds
The fee should relate to what you're worth and what you need, not what other people make in that region. If you aren't living in that region then those rates don't apply.
webo
You should establish your own rates and they will apply to any region. Don't worry about what they charge in Arizona. If the animation is a simple traditional walkthrough for an architect. I would charge at least $7.5K-$10K per minute plus any extra 3d modeling, video editing, sound etc. If it's going to be a flashy cinematic animation for a developer the range should be $15k-$25K Good Luck!
