about render farms

Hi as see on cgarchitect home page there is a new render farm.

but i'am quit skeptic about the cost of those services, they ask USD 900 for 1hour of rendering, i found it is quit expensive...or not ?

if i calculate 10 1hour projects, i'get USD 9.000. for this price i can buy myself some nice render units.

but what you guys think of it, does worth the money to pay a render farm ?

Where did you see $900? On their pricing page, they say it is $.50 per ghz hour. And for each job they allocate 160ghz. So if you are using 160ghz at that rate it would only cost you $80 per hour.

yes Nelson, you'r right, i did a mistake, it is USD 900 for 12.5hours

for this price it is intresting if are a freelance and not afford to buy some money but if you use it more than 10x a year than it's intersting to think about buying some cheap dual core units for network rendering

true... but render farms can do the job in hours sometimes, if need be and sometimes it is.

 

I try to render everything myself but if the deadline doesnt allow it...
