Can't make material white enough!

To whomever can help:

I have a rendering in which I want to make the exterior walls of the main building white in orther to differentiate it more distinctly from the rest of the site buildings. I've tried almost everything but the walls still look grey to off white. I've set the ambient, diffuse and specular Blinn shader paramaters to completely white (255 on all RGB). I've even gone as far as checking the self-illumination color box to on and placed a color of pure white and also have made the all the rest of the materials a radiosity overide material with a bleed of 0.

The radiosity calculation itself is set to:

75% Initial Quality

2 Refine Iterations On all objects

The environment settings are:

Global Lighting: Tint=whit Level=1 Ambient=black

Logarithmic exposure control with a raised brightness.

brightness = 70

contrast = 50

mid tones = 1.0

physical scale = 1500

Both daylight and exterior are checked.

Here is the sample. The one thing I've been noticing is that the whiter I try to make the material the more whased out the corners of the building get which to me is an undesired effect.

Please any suggestions are certanly appreciated and welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

J.

Hi JPS,

Try to adjust Color Correction checkbox in Environment panel. Use pale colour. The simplest way:

check your sun, then go to Modify tab, under Sun Parameters - intesity, dag&drop colour to the Colour Correction probe. It works.

Wojciech Klepacki

P.S.

Colour Correction should be checked.

U r right jucaro, but in this case lowering the material bleeding in radiocity overide panel is the second step. Moreover - this step is unnecessary when u want to keep walls white. Colour bleed has visible influence when u want to give ANY colour but white.

Yes, but having high values of color bleeding will make a white material catch colors from other materials. Thus, in effect make a white material less whiter

WOW, thanks a lot guys! Wojciech, dragging and dropping the sun color to the color correction in the environment panel worked like a charm. I would have never been able to figure that one out. Where did you learn that trick? Is there some place where I can get good tuts for things like this?

Thanks again.
