Arnold Grove
Kind of a curve ball here. I cant find the link to update. I bought VRay but I dont have Chaos forum posting privldge (not sure why, but ok) It looks like some things have changed. Im looking over the VRay user guide; http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R1/migrate_to_1_5.htm I can see the names have changed on some tabs too. What does this mean for the current few vray dvd tutorials that use older techniques? Any suggestions on what to look for to compensate? thanks lads
Arnold Grove
Anyone? Im starting to settle in and learn VRay and Im wondering should I worry about changes...settings Im learning may now be wrong. money for software...dvd tuts....or am I worring for nothing? My emails to Chaos Group go unanswered, as usual. thanks
BrianKitts
the changes aren't that drastic, read through the page you listed already and you'll be covered. Unless your tutorials are 4 years old it's not something you won't be able to figure out. Vray didn't change that much it's no more a switch than trying to use a tutorial from max6 in max9 with the exception of the x10 multiplier that went into the noise threshold such that .01 is the old .001, there really isn't anything that would severly mess with you. Sawyer
From what I can tell the old QMC may not have been a true QMC anyway. It seems like from what I can grock that a true QMC will produce a random solution and then each frame will be different so you will have dancing noise. Jeff Mottle
QMC was removed from V-Ray to avoid any possible patent issues with Mental Ray. It has been replaced with a newer and faster DMC sampling method.
