mskin
I fried my MB last night. I need new equipment and am on tight budget. can anyone tell me how this CPU relates to intel chip, or if for under $400 buying the following is a decent deal? MSI K9VGM-V Socket AM2 VIA K8M890 DDR2-800 PCI.e Motherboard AMD Athlon64 X2 5200+ Socket AM2 Dual-Core Processor 2GB PC6400 800Mhz DDR2 Certified SPD Dual Channel Kit Memory MicroX LA-CSBW3284HLW-BK MidTower W/450 W P.S. Case I don't follow this hardware stuff closely, and every three or four years when i go to buy something formyself, im completely in the dark again.... anyway... thanks in advance for the help. trino
i'm not a hardware guru but i made the switch to AMD64 X2 4800 a few months a go and i'm very happy with it, working like a charm. One question though, how did you fried your MB ?? would like to know to see why it happens.
mskin
there was a small fan (1"x1"x3/8") clamped to two hooks on the motherboard. one of the hooks must have detached and the fan swung around and whacked the board. I think the chip that the fan was cooling overheated. This boards had an athlon 64 3500.... i was happy with it.
